Hi Dave,
I've been riding the 6'5" quad egg you built for me for six months now, so I thought I'd drop you a line. Overall, the board's been excellent. You recommended this shape to me for Perth waves, and you were spot on. It paddles onto waves with the ease of a longboard, and carries momentum through dead sections well. I love the ability to rip a turn when my old thruster would simply lose all its speed. It always gets plenty of attention on the beach too! One thing you didn't warn me about was this boards ability on bigger waves. Given a little bit of size this board transforms into a down-the-line speed machine. It is by far the fastest board I have ever ridden (maybe comparable to your twin keel fish). I've had some puzzled looks as I go screaming through 'un-makable' sections. Despite this, if my back foot's over the fins it can still hook a high speed turn like my old thruster. Loving the quad setup! The flat-ish rocker took a couple of sessions to get used to, but was a small price to pay for the advantage in speed. I suspect this shape in a smaller model would make a great 'performance' board for better waves. As far as the condition of the board after 6 months... one scratch, otherwise perfect. Not even a single pressure ding on the deck. Totally my fault and quite stupid, I had the board on the roof of the car and the garage door just a smidge too low as I reversed out. The crunch sent a shiver down my spine, but on inspection of the damage it wasn't all that bad. The fins had caught the door and pulled out of the Lok-box housings. The little stainless tabs on the lok-box were bent (releasing the fins), and the front of one of the fins made a 3mm long 1mm deep indent in the board. Still watertight! I just flattened out the tabs and reinstalled the fins. Eventually I'll fill the divot with epoxy, but I've gotta wait until the surf is completely flat. Anyway, totally stoked with the board. Keep up the good work!
Cheers, Chris

While we are based in southern Sydney, Chris's quad egg got the ball rolling for Treehouse in Perth. Here is what he has to say about his custom board.
